Make some room in the trophy case because when you're riding Specialized's S-Works Shiv, you're going to be bringing home lots of hardware. Specialized's designers spent countless hours in the wind tunnel and in front of computers painstakingly optimizing each and every tube shape of the Shiv to cut through the wind and work in perfect aerodynamic harmony with your body. The result is one of the fastest framesets ever made and thanks to its FACT 10r-carbon construction, it's also light enough to hammer up hills. For even more gains against the clock, the Shiv is decked out with a premium aero/base bar combo, integrated brakes, an S-Works carbon crankset and an aero carbon post, too.
This frame utilizes Specialized’s advanced FACT IS (Integrated Structure) construction method. By separating the frame into four main parts — the front triangle, seat tube/bottom bracket, chainstays and seatstays — Specialized is able to optimize each carbon piece for its specific purpose and create a structure that’s incredibly light, impeccably stiff and impressively strong.
This frame’s tapered head tube is 1 inch in diameter at the top and 1 1/8 inches at the bottom. This balances front-end stiffness with aerodynamics for awesome steering precision and control. Specialized also integrates the stem and aerobars, resulting in a front end with very low drag.
